Hel - the Goddess of Death in Norse mythology
Daughter of Loki and sister of the Fenris the Wolf and of the Midgard Serpent, Hel was cast into Niflheim, and granted power over nine worlds, to apportion all abodes among those that were sent to her: that is evil men and those who die of sickness or of old age. In appearance, she is half blue-black and half flesh-coloured and she is dark and fierce. At the battle at the end of the world, Ragnarök, Hel will fight with her army of undead against the gods.
